The latest study has been conducted by investigators from three international institutions. These are the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine in Washington, DC, the Institute for Clinical and Experimental Medicine and the Institute of Endocrinology in Prague, Czech Republic.
Researchers suggest that having a plant-based diet could substantially impact a person’s health in several ways. In particular, findings suggest that a specific vegan type diet helps encourage a gut hormone, which assists in regulating the blood pressure.

For the study, a participant pool of 60 men was selected. Of these, 20 were diagnosed for obesity, 20 had diabetes type II, and the other 20 had no health complaints. These made the control group.
These participants were split randomly so that some ate a meal of processed meat and cheese and the others had a vegan meal with tofu. The number of macronutrients and calories of both categories were matched during the process.
The results showed that all the participants who had a vegan meal had an improved level of beneficial gut hormone in contrast with those who had meat and cheese. These results applied to all the participants regardless of their health condition of diabetes, obesity or no health issue at all.
The explanation behind this is simple. The beneficial gut hormones assisted in regulating simple sugar levels, energy levels, and insulin production. All these markets amp up the feeling of satiety, therefore, helping with weight management.
Hence, the researchers highlighted that people who eat a plant-based diet with foods that are rich in fiber may feel fuller. In other words, a vegan diet increases satiety without any additional extra calories.
