UK health experts suggest a 20% hike in red meat prices due to high health risks

Billions of dollars are put toward the healthcare industry. Every year the taxes on the healthcare industry is increasing drastically. According to a study, which has been conducted by the United Kingdom University, it is seen that over 220,000 deaths are occurring because of health care costs.

People are looking at the optimal taxation right now and it is seen that there should be a 20 percent increase in the prices of red meat. About $172 billion is collected globally per year, which covers about 70 percent of the healthcare tax. According to estimations from researchers, about 2.4 million deaths globally are caused due to consumption of red meat. Red meat is also another releasing why health care bills are increasing on a day to day basis.

According to research conducted by the World Health Organization, pork, beef, lamb are all carcinogenic material when it is eaten in a processed form. This goes on to show that even when the meat is unprocessed, it can be carcinogenic. Red meat is right now the leading cause of stroke, type 2 diabetes, and other heart diseases.

Marco Springmann, who was the person who was leading the whole study said that overconsumption of red meat in both processed and unprocessed manner could have a negative impact in a lot of countries. A researcher who was working on this project were very happy after the announcement of the red meat tax.
