Survey Reveals Brits Are Not Getting Enough Water

About 60% of our bodies comprise of water. Yet, several people are short on the fluid. A new survey reveals shocking details about how many Brits actually skip water – for not just hours but even days. Staying hydrated with water is crucial for maintaining good bodily functionality.

From your brain and heart to every muscle that makes you up, water plays a very essential role. The liquids in your body are responsible for carrying nutrients to cells and flushing out toxins from your system. Without water, you’re likely to suffer from several health problems including aching joints, kidney failure, seizures, etc.

Those who are young, old or have chronic illness have a higher risk of suffering due to lack of water. You’d think that water cannot even be missed out on – but a new survey shows that a third of brits don’t drink any water at all on an everyday basis.

A new survey that the brand Robinson’s commissioned has found that 20% of Brits drank their last glass of water more than a week back. The research work also showed that half of the nation, about 50% of the respondents, think water is boring.

62% of the people involved in the study said that they didn’t get the recommended about of water which is about 2 to 2.5 liters. 4% of the respondents even said that they hadn’t drank water in more than a month. Due to not drinking enough water, 41% of the Brits have headaches and may even feel sleepy.

Your everyday drinking water can help you fight fatigue and keep you energized. Dehydration, on the other hand, can have an adverse impact on your mood. It can also leave you feeling confused and compromise on your immune health. Water also combats stress and anger. It detoxifies your body and makes your skin look younger.

Not drinking enough water can quickly influence your skin’s condition. Dehydrated skin is prone to wrinkles and a dull complexion. Moreover, hydration also supports digestion and ensures proper stool consistency. It benefits kidneys and prevents the formation of kidney stones.

Experts recommend men to consume 125 ounces of water everyday while women are recommended to drink 98 ounces per day. However, you shouldn’t overhydrate either as that can lead to water poisoning which is as dangerous as dehydration.

Know that your daily intake of water shouldn’t just come from water. You can also eat more fruits and vegetables. Furthermore, healthy beverages can also be a source of water albeit none of these can replace actual water. Today, many different types of waters are available including carbonated water, hydrogen water, etc.


Lack of water is dangerous and yet a huge portion of the British population doesn’t get any water at all on a daily basis. Keeping in view how blazing hot summer days can be, it is crucial to stay hydrated.
