In the investigation to find the role that mindfulness plays in weight loss, the researchers worked closely with 53 participants in a weight management program. Of this participant pool, 33 people took part in a minimum of 3 out of 4 mindfulness training sessions, which taught them to practice mindfulness when eating.
In six months, these individuals who took the training session lost an average of 3 kilograms or 6.6 pounds. On the flip side, participants who received only one or two mindfulness sessions lost only about 0.9 kg or 2 pounds.
The people who received complete mindfulness training lost an average of 2.85 kg or 6.3 pounds in comparison with the control group that did not attend any mindfulness sessions but were part of a weight management program
