Different diets can be unique in their own ways. For instance, a grapefruit diet is pretty unique as compared to a keto diet that is mainly low-carb and high-fat diet. Regardless of the diet plan though, the one mistake that dieters make has been disclosed.
In his talk with Business Insider, urologist at the University of California San Francisco, Dr. Thomas Chi shared lack of water intake as the leading mistake that dieters make. He pointed out that people on a diet focus extensively on their diet. In doing so, they forget about their water intake.
This creates an imbalance in the body as less hydration surfaces and higher levels of salt are reached. Chi noted that this can turn out to be problematic for meat-enriched diet plans. When a shortage of water pairs with an amped up intake of meat, it leads to complications such as kidney stones.
How Does Water Help A Person On A Diet?
Water alone cannot achieve much. However, paired with your meal plan, it can substantially assist in reaching your weight loss goals. Water helps increase fat metabolism. Research indicates the same.
A study of 18,000 middle-aged and older adults in 2016 learned that folks who had more water were consistently more satisfied as compared with others who did not drink as much water. Consequently, such individuals consume fewer calories on a regular basis.
This same research also learned that people who had steady water had less fat, salt, and cholesterol in their diet in contrast with other people who didn’t take enough water or were dehydrated.
It should be borne in mind that only drinking water does not bring weight loss. However, not drinking enough water can hinder weight loss when it is not present in the diet. Therefore, drinking water is crucial.
A 2010 study also contributes to this case. It concluded that people who drink water directly after a meal have better weight-loss success than those who did not drink water. In simple words, water has a filling effect. Subsequently, it helps you eat less.
On top of that, water is a freebie. It adds no additional sugar, carbs, calories, or fat on a daily basis unlike other drinks such as energy or sports drinks.
How To Add Water To Your Diet?
There are several ways to up your intake of water. Some of the ways to do so include:

- Eat your water
Try food sources such as watermelon and cucumber that are rich in water content. This way you can have water in other forms if you don’t enjoy drinking plain water.
- Have alternate water sources
To add more flavor to the water, drink herbal teas. Or, add citrus fruits such as lemon to your glass of water.
