A recent study claimed that even a single can of soda can harm your circulatory system by constricting blood vessels. However, experts have showed a thumbs-down to this study because it is incomplete and has not been published in a peer-reviewed journal.
However, energy drinks are harmful to one’s health for several other reasons. Excess consumption of these sugar-filled beverages has never been applauded.

We’re used to seeing cans of energy drinks lined in several stores. Several kids drink these beverages solely for the sake of looking cool. However, energy drinks, despite their exploding popularity, are not all good for health. Energy drinks are advertised as beverages that work to stimulate physical or mental performance.
While the ingredients that these drinks contain can provide short-term benefits, in the long-run they can cause serious health complications. Some of the side effects of overdosing on energy drinks include headaches, palpitations, difficulty in breathing, dizziness, stomach-related problems, tremors, etc.
As per science, a heavy intake of energy drinks can result in kidney, heart, and dental problems. It can also cause behavioral and mental health concerns. In this regard, it is necessary to limit your usage of energy drinks. Kids and adolescents, in particular, should not consume the caffeine and sugar laden drinks in copious amounts.
The Study Which Showed That A Single Energy Drink Causes Blood Flow Problems
A recent study which was carried out on a small group of youngsters claimed that even a single energy drink could cause a problem in the functioning of blood vessels. This study was not published in a peer-reviewed journal.
Now, since this study was carried out on kids, of course, their small size of blood vessels had to work harder to pump blood. Secondly, said study also didn’t mention the ingredients that were responsible for constriction of the blood vessels. It was just said that the outcome was perhaps related to the content of caffeine, taurine, sugar, and herbals in the drink.
What Experts Have To Say About This Study
Clinical professor emeritus of medicine at Indiana University School of Medicine, Dr. Mortel Tavel, calls this study meaningless. The age-group that most consumes energy drinks ranges from 30 to 39. Moreover, the ingredients behind the effects have not been disclosed by the study either.
This does not mean that Dr. Tavel is in the favor of energy drinks. He says that the same energy can also be taken from caffeine and hence, they are just a waste of money.
